A DAY OF MUSEUMS IN SAN DIEGO

Jim and I spent a wonderful day wondering around Balboa Park.  It took 3 buses to get there and 1.5 hours but it was well worth it!  When we got on the bus we thought we were just going to the Museum of Man but then, when zoomed in on google map, we saw that there were lots of museums to see! Getting a one day pass for $45. US each turned out to be just right to see five museums.  If we came again I would be tempted to pack a lunch.  The two or three eclectic restaurants spread arouond the area were very busy.  We opted for the bottled water, with a bag of nachos and squeeze tube of 'cheese' .  The view of the fountain was nice..the food...not to much.  Unfortunately we arrived at the Botanical Gardens just after closing time.  There would have been more flowers pics if it was open a little longer.  Oh well...there are more pics coming later.  So...enjoy and keep a visit to Balboa Park and the Museums in mind if you're heading to San Diego.  BTW, I oversized these to try it out.

The tremendously detailed buildings were designed to be part of  Panama-California Expo 1909 - 1915.
Museum of Man...kind of reminded me of the Legislative Building's dome in Victoria, BC

These are for Johnny and Tim Bowles, my two brothers by choice, in Victoria.  They both love motorcycles and own a few!

Steve McQueen's racing bike.  The info said he didn't know if he was a racer who acted or an actor who raced.

Astronaught Buza Aldren painted this, which is hanging in along with
other pieces of art dealing with space, rockets, flight.

All aboard with Captain Trish

The Science Centre was kid orientated.  Jim's telling explaining why the arch the just made stays together.

The building housed the botanical collection.

Ornate front on the Museum of Man

Easy to find interesting architecture to photograph

This was a one person car called Tango that never caught on.

This is not an out of proportion picture.  That's how narrow the one person car was.

Well displayed aircraft from early days to space shuttles at the Aeronautical Museum

Everything was interactive at the Science Museum

These tubes are made out of clear packing tape.  Kids take their shoes off and wander throu them.  Mom's help little ones.

Experiencing a tunnel, maybe for the first time, led there by big brother.
That's all for now, folks.
